“The road to climate action runs through innovation… African entrepreneurs are not waiting, they’re building.”
These words echoed through the UNDP Nigeria Innovation Centre as it welcomed a remarkable visit from Mr. Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and Dr. Nkiruka Chidia Maduekwe, Director-General and CEO of Nigeria’s National Council on Climate Change.

It wasn’t just a visit—it was a moment of recognition for the rising tide of African-led climate innovation. The day began with a vibrant showcase from green economy trailblazers—entrepreneurs tackling energy, agriculture, mobility, and finance with sustainability at the core. These weren’t prototypes or far-off concepts; these were real-world solutions already at work. Solar-powered cold chains extend the life of local harvests. Biotech innovations transform waste into opportunity. Eco-conscious materials replacing plastics. Each pitch wasn’t just a product—it was a promise of resilience, of communities empowered and ecosystems protected.
